Mat Pilates ATX Pumped Up Strength Class via Zoom and at DanceXplosion in South Austin

Do you want to add weights to your routine but are unsure about going to the gym? Maybe you have hand weights at home and don't know what to do first or how often. "Mat & More" Pumped Up Strength Class is a 45-minute full body workout of standing exercises using hand weights. I call it "the strength class" -- and that's mental and physical! I'll teach you to tailor your workout to your fitness level and goals, whether you are "getting back into it" and starting to exercise, or you are already active and want to add more resistance training to your routine.



Our class times are:


Mon at 6:15 a.m. via Zoom

Fri at 10 a.m. at DanceXplosion, 9600 Escarpment Blvd. #150, 78749 at the NW corner of Slaughter and Escarpment In Pumped Up Strength, you choose what "light, medium and heavy" weights mean to you -- whether that's a set of 3 pound weights or more than 10. You'll learn to listen to your body, choose the weights appropriate for your fitness level and goals, and make empowering choices. These standing core and low impact cardo exercises build strength in our legs, hips, shoulders and core muscles. Expect this work out to raise your heart rate for "zone 2" cardio benefits, while also improving your balance and coordination.



Equipment you'll need: at least one pair of hand weights that are the same weight and one weight that is 50 percent (ish) heavier. For example, you may start with a pair of 3-pound weights and one 5-pound weight.


If you're already active in another fitness routine, you may start with a pair of weights between 7 and 10 pounds, and one in the range of 8-12 pounds.


How much is a group class?

This winter, you can get a 2026 class pass for $1,000 for all our group classes through Dec. 31, 2026.

To join us online, you'll use the video conferencing software Zoom via your phone, tablet or computer. Make sure to have enough space in which you can take large steps side to side and back to front.
