Hi, I'm Laura Bond Williams
owner of Mat Pilates ATX, comprehensively-certified Pilates teacher, and lead teacher and trained life coach. I keep people moving so that they feel better, like their bodies, and enjoy the way they move with strength and ease: more freedom, less pain and discomfort from stiff joints and tight muscles.

Comprehensively Trained in Mat and Apparatus with PIlates Sports Center 450+ Hour Teacher Training Program
I completed my comprehensive 450+ hour Pilates training in Austin, Texas, with master teachers from PIlates Sports Center (Calif.) and its comprehensive program for apparatus including mat, reformer, Cadillac, and chair. It is a NPCP (National Pilates Certification Program) recognized school, meaning its curriculum meets the highest industry standards for comprehensive education. It is deeply respectful of classical Pilates roots and co-founded by Dr. Andromeda Stevens, D.C. (a Chiropractor) and Kelli Altounian (a former professional dancer). This partnership created a program that filters Pilates repertoire through a clinical lens to make Pilates most accessible to all bodies.
In recent years, I completed training in group fitness programs including FitPro Programming's Pumped Up Strength and Barre Above(r) formats.

My local teaching experience includes Pilates South Austin, B Pilates Austin, Ballet Austin Butler Community School, V Bodies.
Creating Mat Pilates ATX: A Journey from Pain Recovery to Movement Mastery
My Pilates journey began as a client in 2012 while I was recovering from sacroiliac joint dysfunction and associated back pain and sciatica, and my physical therapist recommended Pilates. I began teaching students weekly reformer classes in 2018 and in March 2020, twice a week "reformer on the mat" Pilates classes via Zoom. I have more than 2,500 hours of teaching experience.
Continuing Education: Hypermobility, Healthy Aging, Strength Training, and Mind/Body + Mindset
My professional development is a priority and I choose workshops to improve and expand my experience with the Pilates Method and how to apply it and adapt it for different people. In recent years I participated in in-person workshops studying aging populations and hypermobility; completed Balanced Body Ladder Barrel training at Pilates Unlimited Dallas (2025); attended in-person workshops with Lesley Logan and Online Pilates Classes (2026, 2024) at Align East (Austin); strength training and neuroscience workshops with Level Up MVMT and Lauren George Fitness (2024); completed in-person workshops with Buff Bones Rebekah Rotstein and Pilates 804 Somaphyx(r) Creator Danica Kalemdaroglu during Align West (Austin) Weekend in 2022. I have ongoing private personal training with teachers in Austin, Texas and beyond.

A Holistic Approach: Integrating Movement Education and Professional Life Coaching
At every age, we can learn new ways of moving through life with ease and awareness. In 2020 I retired from my public relations and marketing career to help people feel more empowered in their lives and their bodies.
While completing training and building my clientele as a Pilates teacher, I also became a professional life coach. How we think about our life, health, work affects all of our decisions. As a teacher and coach, I support students to make more confident decisions, embrace their strengths, better manage their time and attention, and learn to stop what's in between them and what they want to change -- whether that's exercise more, work less, eat better or drink less.
I hold a certificate in life and weight coaching from The Life Coach School's one-year, live training program (2020-21) with more than 500 hours education and experience including live training, peer coaching, mentoring, volunteering, and professional service to one-on-one clients. This work builds on my four-year experience teaching business communication and professional development to more than 450 undergraduate students at Texas State University McCoy College of Business.

When I'm not teaching Pilates, I coach clients in professional and personal transitions as they make life-changing decisions affecting their careers, family, health, and relationships. At every age and stage of life and work, we can feel better about ourselves, our bodies, and our goals. Learn about my coaching practice here.

My Austin Roots: Community, Business, and Local Teaching Experience
An Austin resident for more than 30 years, most of it in public relations, I have been on-stage, backstage and behind the scenes for artists, entrepreneurs and big brands at some of Austin's most recognizable places: the Texas Capitol, Austin City Limits, Stateside at the Paramount, The Long Center Dell Hall and Rollins Theatre, Dougherty Arts Center, HEB Trail of Lights, Austin City Hall, Austin City Limits Music Festival, and more.
But the reason I'm a Pilates student is to keep dancing and performing pain-free! Since 2008, I've performed in dozens of community theatre shows and events and currently perform with STILLDANCINGATX, a dance company of men and women over 50 who love to perform. I love a good Broadway dance class or “Thriller” flash mob and love taking the stage anywhere from the Long Center to a parking lot. I enjoy going to adult dance classes throughout the Austin area.
