What do I need to bring to this mat Pilates class?

You will need to bring your own exercise mat. I recommend a thicker mat (at least 5/8") compared to what you might use for yoga. If you only have a thin yoga mat, consider bringing a large beach towel to place underneath it. Additionally, don’t forget your water bottle and a pair of very light weights, no more than 2 pounds each.

How do I sign up for a free mat class in Circle C Ranch?

What do I wear to a mat Pilates class?

I recommend wearing fitted workout clothes. Options like bike shorts, leggings, or jogger-style pants with cuffed hems work best. Please avoid pants or shorts with belts, as they can be uncomfortable during movement.

Is this a hot Pilates class?

No, our mat class is taught in a climate-controlled room that averages 72 degrees F. While more people and morning sunshine may make the room feel warmer, rest assured it’s designed for your comfort.

Does this mat Pilates count as cardio?

No, Pilates Method exercises are not intended to raise and sustain your heart rate for a cardio workout. However, Pilates does improve strength, endurance, stamina, coordination, mobility, focus, and overall well-being.

Does mat Pilates count as resistance training?

It depends on your current fitness level and what you do for exercise.

When starting an exercise routine or returning after a break, the weight of your arms, legs, and head serves as resistance during Pilates core exercises. As you commit to a mat Pilates practice, you’ll learn to use your body weight to increase core strength, stamina, and endurance. To add resistance, we may incorporate elastic bands, light weights, and props like exercise balls or the Pilates "magic circle" or ring.

Can I wear sticky socks or regular socks in mat Pilates?

If you prefer to wear socks, I recommend sticky socks or going barefoot.

Before class, all participants must complete a short fitness readiness questionnaire and sign a waiver/release of liability.

I can’t wait to see you in class on May 2!
